Fedora 42 Launches With Enhanced Features and Software Updates for Linux Users

Fedora 42 has officially launched, marking a significant update for the popular Linux distribution sponsored by Red Hat. This release is poised to enhance user experience with a wealth of new features and software updates.
One of the key highlights of Fedora 42 is the introduction of the GNOME 48 desktop environment, which includes HDR display support and various improvements to the Wayland display server. Additionally, the new web UI-based Anaconda installer interface streamlines the installation process, making it more user-friendly.
Fedora 42 also enhances support for Intel SGX, integrates a Linux DRM Panic screen, and introduces the first Fedora COSMIC Spin release. It transitions to SDL3 support, among other advancements.
In terms of software, Fedora 42 ships with the nearly-final GCC 15 compiler, Golang 1.24, and the LLVM 20 toolchain, alongside PHP 8.4 and Ruby 3.4. For users preferring alternatives to GNOME, KDE Plasma 6.3, Xfce 4.20, and LXQt 2.1 are also available. A comprehensive list of changes can be found in the Fedora Wiki.
